Our first 3 chakras - also called the "lower chakras" - are connected to our basic needs and emotions: Our root chakra (also called “Muladhara") provides grounding, reliability and stability in life. The sacral chakra - or "Svadhisthana" - holds, among other things, the drive to procreate, but also feelings such as self-esteem. Finally, the solar plexus chakra, the "Manipura" chakra, is where our ability to position and assert ourselves in this world resides.
